Mavs Reveal Luka Doncic Injury News Before Game 5 vs. Clippers
Kevin Jairaj-USA TODAY Sports

Dallas Mavericks coach Jason Kidd announced that NBA superstar Luka Doncic is considered probable to play in Wednesday’s pivotal Game 5 against the LA Clippers despite nursing a sprained right knee.

Doncic, who sustained the injury in the first quarter of Game 3, was previously questionable for Game 4 because of knee soreness. He participated fully in Tuesday’s practice, where his right knee was extensively taped.

The Mavericks star struggled in Game 4 on Sunday. He played 45 minutes but managed only 29 points on 10 of 24 shooting, including a 1 of 8 performance from three-point range.

Doncic completed the game with a triple-double, adding 10 rebounds and 10 assists, but his mobility was limited, affecting his defensive effectiveness. The series is currently tied 2-2.

“It’s obviously hurting, but it’s not an excuse,” Doncic said after spending two hours in postgame treatment.

Doncic remains motivated to bounce back in Game 5, describing his evaluation of his performance as “letting down” his superstar backcourt partner, Kyrie Irving.

“I just got to help him more. I feel like I’m letting him down, so I got to be there. I got to help him more,” Doncic said. “He’s giving everything he has and he’s been amazing for us the whole series.”

Additionally, Mavericks backup guard Tim Hardaway Jr., who has been sidelined since spraining his ankle in the first half of Game 2, suffered a setback during a scrimmage after Tuesday’s practice. Kidd stated that Hardaway would be reevaluated and is listed as questionable for Game 5.
